William Blake

Time is the mercy of eternity; without Time’s swiftness,
Which is the swiftest of all things, all were eternal torment.

– William Blake

I find this very soothing, for some reason.

Vladimir the Overrated

Was Nabokov the most overrated literary writer of the 20th Century? He had a lot of competition (Saul Bellow for one – Ten pages of him could induce narcolepsy in a tweaker).

James Joyce lite. My great lit professor talked about the crudeness of N’s mind. That’s the right direction. You can see it in N’s criticism, which is pretty disposable.

Except for Lolita. Lolita almost makes up for the unreadable rest of it.
